Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary (CACTS), Ile Ife held its 2022 Staff Retreat for all staff members from the main and various satellite campuses of the Seminary in May 2022.
According to the Provost of the Seminary, Pastor Prof. C.O. Oshun, the staff retreat, themed “Creativity and Systemic Networking among Drivers of Theological Education” was scheduled to hold at the Main Campus, Opa, Ile Ife from Monday, 16th May to Wednesday, 18th May, 2022; while the guests would be received on Sunday, 15th May, 2022.
Describing the purpose of the retreat, Prof. Oshun stated that, “this retreat is not entirely new in the Seminary. It’s been the usual practice. I think it’s an annual event for staff members across the 15 campuses to come together for a time of reflection.”
“A retreat is a time to rethink how we do things, why we do them, and where we do them. So, the big question before us is, are we satisfied with who we are, where we are and what we are doing; particularly, how we are doing what we are doing? If we are not satisfied with who we are, this is the time to think of changing our identity. We have a potential and we have a promise,” he said.
The Provost of the Seminary who expressed that the retreat is a spiritual, intellectual and academic gathering stated that, “we are coming to inspect ourselves in all aspects of life, administration, syllabus, teaching, all that binds us together and the condition of service.”
He also added that, “we want to be up and doing. All our campuses are not on the same page in terms of growth, in terms of population, in terms of staff profile. Yes, they are affected majorly by their location, unlike those who are in the metropolis like Lagos and Ibadan. To find people who can go to some far places, we have to repackage what we can offer.”
The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee who doubles as the Deputy Provost of the Seminary, Pastor Dr. M. O. A. Oluwaniyi and his team are set to receive all members of staff (teaching and non-teaching) alongside resource persons, such as: Pastor E.S. Famuyide, Chairman Governing Council; Prof. J. K. Ayantayo from the University of Ibadan; Pastor Dapo Adeniyi, Registrar of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU); Prof. Femi Adedeji from Obafemi Awolowo University; among others.
